Audi Q5 Service Sydney

Audi Q5 Servicing & Repairs

Audi Services & Repairs in Pagewood Sydney

The Q5 is a heavier car than its footprint suggests, and that weight shows up in the service record. Brakes, suspension components and driveline parts all work harder than they would on an A4 with the same engine.

Audi Q5 service intervals

Audi sets a scheduled service every 15,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first. Every second service is the larger one. These are the intervals Audi Australia publishes for the Q5, and following them is what keeps the history unbroken.

Service item Interval Applies to
Oil change service 15,000 km or 12 months All TFSI and TDI
Inspection with oil change service 30,000 km or 24 months All TFSI and TDI
Dust and pollen (cabin) filter 30,000 km or 24 months All models
Air filter element 30,000 km All TFSI and TDI
Brake fluid change 24 months All models
Spark plugs 60,000 km or 72 months All TFSI
Ribbed V-belt 60,000 km All TFSI and TDI
Fuel filter 60,000 km All TDI
S tronic gearbox oil 60,000 km 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI
Toothed (timing) belt 120,000 km 2.0 TDI
Diesel particulate filter check 210,000 km All TDI

The diesel Q5 runs a toothed belt at 120,000 km where the petrol uses a chain, and it also carries the fuel filter and particulate filter items. Worth knowing on a diesel Q5 that only does suburban running, because the particulate filter is the part that suffers most from short trips. The smaller Q2 has the same short-trip problem for different reasons.

Brake fluid falls due on time rather than distance, at 24 months for every model. Audi lists it as a brake fluid change, so the system is flushed and bled rather than topped up. On a car that goes through brakes as quickly as the Q5 does, it is worth doing alongside pads and rotors as part of our ATE accredited brake work.

What is included at each Audi Q5 service

At every oil change service, 15,000 km or 12 months:

  • Engine oil and oil filter replaced with oil meeting the Audi specification for your engine
  • Full vehicle inspection, with the results written up for you rather than summarised verbally
  • Logbook stamped for the oil change service
  • Service interval display reset using the correct diagnostic equipment

At every inspection with oil change service, 30,000 km or 24 months:

  • Everything in the oil change service above
  • Dust and pollen (cabin) filter replaced
  • Air filter element replaced
  • Brake fluid changed, which Audi schedules on time rather than distance at 24 months
  • Any additional items that fall due at that distance for your engine, listed in the table above

Common Audi Q5 problems we see

On Q5s the recurring items are brake wear well ahead of schedule because of the weight the car carries, suspension bushes and control arms, cooling system leaks from the thermostat housing and water pump, and carbon build-up on the petrol engines.

Where a fault is not obvious from the symptoms, we diagnose before replacing parts rather than replacing parts and hoping. It is cheaper for you and it is the only honest way to quote the work.

Booking your Audi Q5 service

If the car is a diesel and it mostly does short runs, say so when you book. It changes what we check first.

We are at 32 Ocean Street, Pagewood, about fifteen minutes from the CBD and an easy run from the eastern suburbs and the inner west. If a NSW registration inspection falls due at the same time we can do both in one visit. You can see every Audi model we service on the main Audi page. Call (02) 9316 8382 or book your Q5 in online.
